This Privacy Policy describes information processed when you visit Autotechlabs, browse its content, or contact the site operator. It reflects the site's current features and may change if the site adds services or tools.
Information you provide
You can browse the site without creating an account or signing in. The site does not currently provide an account system, comment feature, or contact form.
If you contact us using the email link in the site footer, we receive the email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We use it to respond to your inquiry and handle any follow-up. Your email provider may also process the message under its own privacy practices.
Please do not include sensitive personal information unless it is needed for your inquiry.
Information processed when you visit
The website's hosting, content delivery, and security infrastructure may automatically process technical information needed to deliver the site, maintain its security, and troubleshoot errors. Depending on the provider and its configuration, this may include your IP address, browser and device details, requested page or resource, referring page, and the date and time of a request. These providers may keep server or security logs according to their own settings and retention practices.
We plan to host the production site using Firebase Hosting, a Google Cloud service. Google may process technical information, including request and security data, to deliver and protect the service. Firebase services may process information on Google's infrastructure in different locations. See Firebase's privacy and security information and Google's Privacy Policy.
Cookies and local storage
The site uses your browser's local storage to remember your light or dark theme preference. The preference is stored on your device under the key autotechlabs-theme; it is not used by the site to identify you across other websites. If you clear local storage or use a different browser or device, the site may not remember your preference.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site and to improve its content. Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, and browser and device details. It may use first-party cookies, including an identifier cookie, or similar technologies to distinguish browsers and sessions. Google describes the information it receives from sites using its services in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and explains Google Analytics data collection.
When Firebase Analytics is configured for the site and supported by your browser, the site sends page-view events to Google Analytics. We do not add names or email addresses to these events. Google Analytics settings, including data retention and advertising features, are managed in the linked Analytics property.
You can manage or clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking storage may prevent the site from remembering your theme preference.
Embedded YouTube videos
Video pages may embed available videos using YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, youtube-nocookie.com. When your browser loads an embedded player, it connects to YouTube. Google and YouTube may receive information such as the page address and technical information about your browser or device. If you play or otherwise interact with the player, YouTube may also process information about that interaction.
Privacy-enhanced mode limits the use of embedded video views to personalize the YouTube viewing experience; it does not prevent all data from being sent to Google or YouTube. Your use of the player is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy and YouTube's information about embedded players.
How information is used
Information described in this policy may be used to:
- Operate, deliver, maintain, and secure the website.
- Diagnose technical issues and prevent misuse.
- Read and respond to messages you send us.
We use Google Analytics to understand site usage and improve the site.
Service providers
Google Cloud processes technical information to host and protect the site through Firebase Hosting. Google Analytics processes website usage information for measurement. Google and YouTube process information when you load or use an embedded YouTube player. Your email provider processes messages you send to us. Each provider's own privacy terms describe its handling of information.
Retention
We keep messages you send for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain relevant records, and address follow-up matters, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Google Analytics data retention is controlled by the setting selected for our Analytics property; we will confirm that setting before production. The retention of hosting and security logs is controlled by Google and the service configuration. YouTube and your email provider may retain information under their own policies.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can choose not to provide information by not contacting us. You can clear your theme preference and manage cookies through your browser settings. You can also use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics measurement in your browser. You can choose not to play an embedded video; your browser may still connect to YouTube when it loads the player.
Privacy rights vary by location. Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to or limit certain processing. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator. To ask a question or make a request, use the contact details in the site footer. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Children's privacy
The site is general-interest automotive education content and is not designed to collect personal information from children. There are no user accounts or on-site contact forms. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us using the details in the site footer so we can review and address the request.
International visitors
The site may be visited from different countries. Service providers may process information in countries where they or their infrastructure are located. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the site or its services change. We will post the revised policy on this page and change the “Last updated” date above.
